A LIVING MUSEUM

In accordance with its founder´s principles, the Museum has, in hardly three years, become one of the most dynamic institutions in the spanish artistic scene.

This way, various seasonal exhibitions have been held including Picasso from the Museo Nacional de Arte Reina Sofía, Miró - in collaboration with the Fundación Miró de Palma de Mallorca -, Antonio Saura, Gerardo Rueda,

Claudio Bravo, José Caballero, Eduardo Naranjo, etc. Also, concerning conferences, several courses have been developed with the participation of prestigious university professors, museum directors, directors of artistic institutions, investigators etc., both spanish and foreign. To all this we should add the grants offered for extended studies in Paris, publications, concerts, childrens contests etc. And that projection will not be limited locally, the Museum has carried out, with works from its archives, various exhibitions in several spanish and foreign capitals.

The National Awards for Engravings have a special interest, now in its third edition and whose awards fell, respectively, on the realist artist Eduardo Naranjo, the academic José Hernández and Miguel Ángel Villarino.

The museum also has an engravings workshop where classes on this artistic technique are given, both for beginners as well as monographics for profesionals. At the moment the first exhibition which includes a collection of engravings from important artists is being prepared.

Another important service which the foundation offers is the Library of the History of Art which is situated in the third floor of the building.

All these activities have the constant support of the Association of Friends of The Spanish Contemporary Engravings Museum of Marbella, founded in 1993 and presided by Mrs. DªMaría de Salamanca, Countess of los Llanos.
