In the church square we also find one of the towers, which are the remains of a wall which once surrounded the muslim city.

If we walk from there towards calle Trinidad, after a short row of small houses, we will find more remains of this castle, where we can see traces of roman capitels which were taken out of other buildings and used for the construction of the wall.

We can visit the wall by going through calle Carmen; climb the stairs up to Plaza de San Bernabé, continuing up calle Castillo where we will see another traditional niche built into the wall, complete with images of Baby Jesus, normally with remains of candles and flowers as sign of religious petitions.

We continue by Barbacana where the still majestic golden stones which once protected a city of 90.000m2. stand.

This stretch of wall forms a corner which still remains in good condition. Here stands a tower as the main and last remembrance.

From here, the wall extends until the end of calle Portada, there end the remains of this fortress which disappeared, like many others, in 1786 when the crown of King Charles III ordered the demolition of all city walls.
