La Virgen de la Inmaculada Concepción

The highest niche is in the Town hall´s upper façade. From its interior presides the famous plaza La Virgen de la Inmaculada Concepción.

The tradition of the niches dates back to the reconquest era. Their function was to sanctify the areas previously occupied by the arabs. This one, like most of the others, was emptied during the republic era and also during the Civil War, the statues were reinstalled after 1940.
