La calle
de
San Juan de Dios
|
Calle de San Juan de Dios, is
another of those surprising streets where corners confuse artists and nearly melt due to
that charming effect that the free irregularities produce. At the bottom, in a solid way,
although the impression is somewhat unreal, stands the chapel of the saint who gives his
name to the street. The chapel was once part of the town´s hospital and was built in XVI
a.d., the lower part of its façade is stone and the small whitewashed bell tower is built
in popular local style. In the interior, which
on occasions is open to the public, we find a mixture of elements of gothic-mudéjar
origin and religious images belonging to the "cofradía de La Pollinica".
