THE OLDEST TRADITIONS
Together with this cultural exponent, the folklore has to be mentioned, and the popular festivities which grow their roots in the oldest traditions from centuries ago. Practically all the municipalities have something interesting to offer all year long, starting with Christmas and New Year, the carnivals, Easter, and many singular manifestations, the pilgrimages in spring and summer, the fairs and patron saints festivities and other commemorations.
POPULAR ART
We couldnt forget in the complementary tourist offer, a brief reference to the handicraft made with materials such as reedmace, wood, leather, clay, vegetable fibres, metals (iron, silver, brass, copper, bronze, etc.).
Although the handicraft is an activity which has suffered many swings, in the last few years it has revived in many towns of the province who have proven that it can be an important source for development. The CEDER (Rural Development Centres) as projects which count on communitary help and are abased in the regions of the Ronda highland and the Axarquía, are promoting a handicraft revival in its diverse and genuine expressions.
