NIGHTS ON THE COAST
There is a last reference to the complementary offer which is considered to be very important for the tourist sector: fun.
The nights on the Costa del Sol transcended internationally, already
in the 60s and 70s as one of the most significant attractions. It isnt
necessary to remind the amount of personalities - film stars, literaries,
politicians, governors, kings, sheikhs, emirs, singers, and the particular
pleiad of professional playboys - who discovered the delights of the Costa
del Sol nights in premises which made history.
Today, and along the last decades, fun is still one of the strengths of
the coast because when the afternoon ends and the night arrives, the Costa
del Sol opens up a whole range of possibilities which are difficult to
equal in other tourist places: to dine in a good restaurant overlooking
the sea, later dancing until the early hours of the morning, going to gamble
a few thousand pesetas in either of the two casinos - Nueva Andalucía
and Torrequebrada - watching a flamenco show, sitting before an international
show in a night club - Fortuna in Torrequebrada, is probably one of the
best in Spain - , or getting lost in the noise of any of the more than
a hundred discotheques which mark the whole coast. It is a world thought
of and made to satisfy all tastes and economic possibilities; for all ages
and amalgam of nationalities who visit the area.
Although there are always hidden corners which are a delight to discover, there are certain areas on the coastal stretch which have been formed along the years as especially attractive areas and among which are the marinas such as José Banús and Benalmádena Marina; peculiar areas such as Pueblo Blanco in Torremolinos, each one with its particular clients, as well as in certain premises on the so-called Golden Mile, between Marbella and Puerto Banús, with the beach clubs and discotheques in the large hotels. The marina in Estepona, the promenade in Fuengirola at the marina, the Solymar square in Benalmádena, the historical centre in Málaga, as well as the Reding avenue, Pedregalejo and El Palo, more small areas of the municipalities of the eastern coast, form the attraction poles of different national and foreign publics, generally young, and anxious to live up the night life.
