vegetation, among the most important there is the subaquatic vegetation, the marshy
vegetation, the bushes, and meso-Mediterranean holm-oak. In the first group, there is the

and Patamogeton spp., which basically develop in the Laguna Chica; regarding the marshy
vegetation, there is a presence on the banks of both lagoons and delimiting the area of
the Reserve, of rushes, giant reeds canes and bulrushes. |
The outstanding vegetative formation in the peripheral area
of protection is the holm-oak Quercus rotundifolia, belonging to the meso-Mediterranean
Series Baetica Basophile of the holm-oak, associated to a rich bushes of kermes oak,
hawthorns, asparagus, thyme, rockroses, etc
In the herbaceous stratum one can find peonies with large and beautiful pink
flowers. In the Protected Peripheral Area there are also other types of vegetation which
are the result of the traditional use of agricultural resources: herbaceous crops, almonds
and olives; also, the cattle use and the decrease of the pre-existent holm-oak condition
