EXCURSIONS

The scenic attractiveness of the province of Malaga and the opulence of its historic-artistic heritage, assumes, apart from the great possibilities of a tourism which is respectful with the environment, an important and varied complementary offer to the traditional sun and beach tourism in the coastal Malaga. Here we propose four excursions which of course are not the only ones that can be made, but these are the most representative.

    INTERESTING OBSERVATIONS

Whichever itinerary you use, we recommend that you start this excursion with the visit to the Sierra de las Nieves as described in Itinerary Nº 1, as the quality of the view is better in the morning and one is less tired in order to ascend to the Puerto de los Pilones.

If you make the excursion by bus, this shouldn’t be too large, and you should avoid snowed weekends as this causes an important influx of traffic and it is difficult to manoeuvre on the paths that lead to the Quejigales refuge.

If you have planned ascending the Cañada del Cuerno, it is convenient to wear good shoes to walk through the mountains. Also, if you don’t know the way, you should request the services of a guide which the Agencia de Medio Ambiente have at your disposal for a modest fee (if there are more than 20 people.)

If you are thinking of camping or if your group is greater than 20 people, you must ask the Agencia de Medio Ambiente for authorization.

If you are thinking of making this excursion in the summer you have to ask the Agencia de Medio Ambiente beforehand, if the access to the refuge is open, as it is often closed because of the fire risk.
